Venues Wellington, home to Wellington’s iconic St James Theatre, the Opera House, TSB Bank Arena, and the Michael Fowler Centre, has launched a trial with FillGood to replace single-use cups with reusables. Partnering with us, they’ve implemented a seamless reusable cup system across all events, offering a sustainable solution to reduce waste and set a new standard for eco-conscious event management at some of the city's best venues.

The FillGood Solution:
FillGood delivered a fleet of reusable cups along with an easy-to-use return system to service the four venues. As part of an ongoing trial, reusable cups replaced single-use plastic cups at all events, helping the venues move closer to their sustainability goals while also engaging the public in sustainable practices.

Impact Highlights:

• St James Theatre: 873 reusable cups used, avoiding 26kg of waste.

• Michael Fowler Centre: 1,139 cups used, diverting 34.1kg of waste.

• Opera House: 848 cups used, preventing 25.4kg of waste.

• TSB Arena: 1,367 cups used, saving 41kg of waste.

Halfway into the trial, we have seen the use of over 4,200 reusable cups, diverting 126.5kg of waste from landfills, while maintaining strong return rates across the venues.
